Abha, the Bride of the South, is a city of natural beauty and refreshing air. Your journey begins at Jabal Al-Soudah, the highest peak in the Kingdom, where you’ll find panoramic views and cool weather all year round. Enjoy walking through juniper forests or try the cable car that takes you between the mountains in a magical way to the heritage village of Al-Habala. Stroll through the artistic Al-Muftaha Village, explore Al-Darah (the High Village) and the Fog Walkway, and get to know Art Street, famous for its jacaranda trees. Then discover up close the details of local art at the Al-Qatt Al-Asiri Museum, and don’t miss visiting the historic Shada Palace and Shamsan Fortress, which tell the story of Asir’s deep-rooted heritage.
Experiences that are truly worth trying include: hiking in Al Sahab Park, strolling along Art Street, visiting the heritage village of Al Habala, Al Muftaha Village, Al Alia Village, the Fog Walkway, a trip to the dam lake, boating on Al Soudah Lake, and exploring the villages of Rijal Almaa with their unique stone houses. And for those who love lively atmospheres, don’t miss the Soudah Season events and local festivals. Abha is considered one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia thanks to its mild climate (especially in summer), green mountains, mist, and stunning nature. Here are the most important tourist attractions in and around the city (most of them can be visited in a day or two). Al-Madina Al-Aliya (The High City) is currently one of the most famous and beautiful places. It is located at a high altitude (more than 2,200 meters) and offers wonderful panoramic views of Abha and the surrounding mountains. It’s perfect for photography, enjoying the cool weather, and at times walking among the clouds. There are cafés and restaurants. Abha Dam Lake is one of the most prominent natural landmarks in the heart of the city. It is a beautiful artificial lake surrounded by a green park, suitable for strolling, photography, and family picnics. You can cross the dam and enjoy the views. The Abha cable car is an experience not to be missed! Cable car rides with incredibly beautiful scenery, connecting several points such as the Green Mountain and Al-Habla Village. Suitable for families and youth. Abu Khayal Park is the best family park in Abha. It has wide green spaces, children’s playgrounds, pet animals, walking and cycling paths, and shaded seating areas. Ideal for families and outings. The Fog Walkway is a magical place, especially early in the morning or when there is fog. It’s a long promenade with beautiful mountain views, and it has cafés and restaurants. The atmosphere is calm and romantic. Al-Muftaha Village is a distinctive cultural and artistic center. It has a theater, art galleries, handicrafts, and a modern heritage-inspired ambiance. It is close to the traditional Tuesday Market. Shamsan Historical Fortress is a historic fort on a high point, offering a 360-degree view of the city. An important historical site and great for photography. Al-Habla Village (Al-Habla – the Hanging Village) is one of the most famous heritage villages in the region (about 50 km from Abha). It is an old village hanging on the mountainside, accessible by cable car. It features heritage houses and small museums.
